Melissa Sherer, MPA

Melissa Sherer helps mission-driven organizations overcome barriers to success. Whether you’re new at federal grant compliance, launching new programs, managing difficult people, filling a gap during staff changes, experiencing board challenges, planning a big event, or interested in telling a better story with your data, she is ready to help.

Melissa holds a Master’s in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership. She is excellent at quickly analyzing an issue and taking concrete steps to fix it. As an empathetic reformer, she puts compassion in action and helps people achieve their mission.

Since 2008, she has engaged in federal grants management, program management, juvenile justice reform, education, leadership development, and advocacy. Her journey has included nonprofit leadership, local government programming, event planning, leadership development, and the boardroom. Outside of work, you can find Melissa besting her husband in NYT word games, picking up her two teenagers from school, and devouring the next book club read.

As a tireless idealist, Melissa loves to inspire others to dream of ways to help our neighbors and improve broken systems. She believes success doesn’t come from status but from being a force for good in the world. She understands that lasting, positive changes in the lives of others and the systems that serve them make our world a better place.

Her favorite quote is from Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
